The Herb Centre; This wonderful location is composed of a lovely corner cafe that provides primarily veggie treats (there is just one carnivorous option in the menus...) and brews the New Zealand Coffee Awards 2009-10 Gold Award winning, New Brighton-based Switch Espresso.

Also, it is an impressively stocked dispensary/ health retailer that holds a number of nutritional supplements, organic body products and every essential oil possible, a backyard garden plus a clinic that delivers midwifery services, natural addiction treatment solution, and herbal and naturopathic remedies. Phew. It is basically the only one-stop-shop for the granola sect within the whole city (that we are aware of, anyway...if your company is one, also, i highly recommend you e-mail us!). It is an alternative style cafe Christchurch ought to be proud of!

The place, positioned on Kilmore St, is fittingly serene, utilizing hardwood flooring, substantial, uncovered windows which bathe the place in angelic light, along with the relaxing aromas of lavender and patchouli. It is wonderfully one of a kind (look the sweet as pictures of grooving eggs around the chalkboard wall menu!) plus the meals are fresh and great, try the GF, DF Wintertime Root Vegetable Cake, it absolutely was popular within my partly vegetarian family. Come summer season, I reckon the garden shall be packed with revellers trying to find a tranquil place to chill out having a mug and a socially mindful slice.

Addington Coffee Co-op; Located on Lincoln Rd, essential to Addington village, Addington Coffee Co-op is a quaintly opulent, all-natural light filled cafe and roastery that spins Blondie, roasts and peddles their own brand of Fair Trade (and DELICIOUS) coffee and feels like your living room (if you're the sort of individual whose living room provides a pitch-perfect volume of delicate kitsch as well as the most affecting ambiance in the street).

The organization, situated at a large ex- mechanics working area, required 9 months to master and earthquake proof (which has been opportune!) and it's crammed to the top no matter what times of the day with an assorted combination of youthful neo-hipsters, chatty stay-at-home-mums and extravagant looking suits in search of an inviting location for a lunch time meeting together with a excellent, fresh produced slice, pastry or sandwich. Along with their very cool and conscious utilization of Fair Trade coffee, furthermore, they offer for sale "organic threads" created by survivors from the sex-trade in Calcutta

And so, to recap: their coffee is fabulous, their environment is impeccable and their company techniques are morally righteous. Need I say more?
