Internal Baking Soda Therapy into Clinical Trials





It appears that we are seeing research momentum on the application ofbaking soda on specific cancers. This is clearly overdue. The keyand compelling argument is that our modern diet is badly biased into developing acidity in our body, leading to a whole range ofdegenerative diseases. As I recently posted, a combination of maplesyrup and baking soda is suitable for counteracting this effect.
I would like to go a little further. Age related degeneration isgenerally excessive in humanity. In the wild, animal reach theirpast due date and abruptly and quickly decline. It is reasonable tosurmise that our diet somehow accelerates the aging effect. Thus itis reasonable to understand and counter this effect.
Thus my conjecture is simply that consuming baking soda in sufficientquantities will serve to block this deterioration to the last. Thiswould be great news if it turns out to be true.
One must presume that the body postpones corrective action in orderto rebalance our Ph and a deficiency is reflected in cell damage thataccumulates over time.

Universityof Arizona Cancer Center member Dr. Mark Pagel will receivea $2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to studythe effectiveness of personalized baking soda therapy to treatbreast cancer. In other words, clinical trials on the use of oralsodium bicarbonate for breast cancer treatments are about tostart![1] Obviously there are people in the know whohave understood that sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), that samestuff that can save a person’s life in the emergency room in aheartbeat, is a primary cancer treatment option of the safest andmost effective kind.
Of course I feelvindicated for everything I wrote in Sodium Bicarbonate – RichMan’s Poor Man’s Cancer Treatment, which still stands as the onlyfull medical review on the subject of using simple baking soda in thepractice of medicine. When taken orally with water, especially waterwith high magnesium content, and when used transdermally in medicinalbaths, sodium bicarbonate becomes a first-line medicinalfor the treatment of cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, influenza andeven the common cold. And importantly, it isalso a powerful buffer against radiation exposure, so everyone shouldbe up to speed on its use. Everybody’s physiology isunder heavy nuclear attack from strong radioactive winds that arecircling the northern hemisphere.
Actuallyit is no surprise that a University of Arizona researcher receivedthis grant because there has been cancer research going on for yearsthere. Dr. Robert J. Gillies and his colleagues have alreadydemonstrated that pre-treatment of mice with sodium bicarbonateresults in the alkalinization of the area around tumors. The sameresearchers reported that bicarbonate increases tumor pH andalso inhibits spontaneous metastases in mice with breastcancer.[2] It also reduces the rate of lymph node involvement.
I recently published about fungal infections, and breast cancerhas been found to be associated with increased frequency ofmold-fermented cheese consumption.[3] Fungi produce toxic metabolitescalled mycotoxins[4]that can cause cancer. Aflatoxin is a mycotoxinwith carcinogenic potency that is found in inferior peanut butter andother nut and dairy products. Researchers in 1993 examinedhuman breast cancer tissue and found significant carcinogenicaflatoxin within the cancer tissue implicating aflatoxin andthus fungus as a cause of breast cancer.[5]
The pH level of ourinternal fluids affects every cell in our body.
Chronic over-aciditycorrodes body tissue, and if left unchecked will interrupt allcellular activities and functions. In other words, over-acidityinterferes with life itself. It is at the root of cancer.
Sodium bicarbonatemedical treatments are the time honored method to “speedup” the return of the body’s bicarbonate levels to normal. Sodiumbicarbonate happens to be one of our most useful medicines as ittreats the basic acid-alkaline axis of human physiology.
The pH of our tissuesand body fluids is crucial and central because it affects and mirrorsthe state of our health or our inner cleanliness. Thecloser the pH is to 7.35-7.45, the higher our level of health andwell being. Staying within this range dramatically increases ourability to resist acute illnesses like colds and flues as well as theonset of cancer and other diseases. Keeping our pH withina healthy range also involves necessary lifestyle and dietary changesthat will protect us over the long term while the use of sodiumbicarbonate gives us a jump-start toward increased alkalinity.
ThepH scale is like a thermometer showing increases and decreases in theacid and alkaline content of fluids. Deviations above or below a7.35-7.45 pH range in the tightly controlled blood can signalpotentially serious and dangerous symptoms or states of disease. Whenthe body can no longer effectively neutralize and eliminate theacids, it relocates them within the body’s extra-cellular fluidsand connective tissue cells directly compromising cellular integrity.Conversely when the body becomes too alkaline from too muchbicarbonate in the blood, metabolic alkalosis occurs, which can leadto severe consequences if not corrected quickly.[6]
Jon Barron presentsa way of looking at pH that opens up one of the major benefits ofalkaline water:
Hydrogen ions tie upoxygen. That means that the more acid a liquid is, the less availablethe oxygen in it. Every cell in our body requires oxygen for life andto maintain optimum health. Combine that with what we know abouthydrogen ions and we see that the more acid the blood (the lower itspH), the less oxygen is available for use by the cells. Without goinginto a discussion of the chemistry involved, just understand thatit’s the same mechanism involved when acid rain “kills” a lake.The fish literally suffocate to death because the acid in the lake“binds up” all of the available oxygen. It’s not that theoxygen has gone anywhere; it’s just no longer available.Conversely, if you raise the pH of the lake (make it more alkaline),oxygen is now available and the lake comes back to life.Incidentally, it’s worth noting that cancer is related to an acidenvironment (lack of oxygen)—the higher the pH (the more oxygenpresent in the cells of the body), the harder it is for cancer tothrive.
Understanding this isimportant for two reasons: (1) it reveals one of the primary benefitsof alkaline water—more “available” oxygen in the system and (2)it explains why alkaline water helps fight cancer.
The ocean, the motherof all life, has an average pH of about 8.1.The ideal pH for bloodsits at about 7.4, slightly alkaline—not acidic.

If you’re eating welland living cleanly, then yes, you want to drink water with anaturally occurring pH only slightly above neutral. However, if youare eating the typical Western diet, high in meat, grains, sodas, andsugars that acidify the body, then you have a different problem. YourpH balance is now so far out of normal that you must go beyond normalin the other direction to counter it. My recommendation fordaily drinking water pH is about 7.5-8—depending on howacid forming your diet is. Long-term consumption of higher pH watershould be reserved for special circumstances. The mostfamous mountain waters in the world, waters renowned for theirhealing properties, are highly alkaline. I’m referring to thewaters coming down from the Himalayas, and specifically to the watersof the Hunza Valley, which have a pH that runs between 9 and 11.
One does not have tobe a doctor to practice pH medicine. Every practitioner of thehealing arts and every mother and father needs to understand how touse sodium bicarbonate. Bicarbonate deficiency is a realproblem that deepens with age so it really does pay to understand andappreciate what baking soda is all about.

As if it were nothumiliating enough for orthodox oncologists to learn that the lowlychemical sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is important in thetreatment of cancer now they have to swallow the research pointing tothe fact that bicarbonate can also be used to diagnose cancer in itsearliest stages. Oncologists do understand and know that bicarbonateis necessary to protect their patients from the toxicity and harmdone by highly toxic chemicals used in chemotherapy. They also knowit is of extraordinary help to patients receiving radiationtreatments protecting as it does the kidneys and other tissues of thebody from radioactive damages.
Oncologists shouldalso know that bicarbonate-induced extracellular alkalinization leadsto significant improvements in the therapeutic effectiveness ofcertain chemo agents. A number of studies have shown that theextracellular pH in cancers is typically lower than that in normaltissue and that an acidic pH promotes invasive tumor growth inprimary and metastatic cancers. The external pH of solid tumorsis acidic as a consequence of increased metabolism of glucose andpoor perfusion. Acid pH has been shown to stimulate tumor cellinvasion and metastasis in vitro and in cells before tailvein injection in vivo.
Researchershave investigated the very reasonable assumption that increasedsystemic concentrations of pH buffers would lead to reducedintratumoral and peritumoral acidosis and, as a result, inhibitmalignant growth. It has been shown that increased serumconcentrations of the sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) can be achieved viaoral intake. These researchers found that consequent reduction oftumor acid concentrations significantly reduces tumor growth andinvasion without altering the pH of blood or normal tissues.[1]
OralNaHCO3 selectively increased the pH of tumors and reduced theformation of spontaneous metastases in mouse models of metastaticbreast cancer. NaHCO3 therapy also reduced the rate of lymph nodeinvolvement and significantly reduced the formation of hepaticmetastases. Acid pH was shown to increase the release of activecathepsin B, an important matrix remodeling protease.[2]
We know thatbicarbonate turns to CO2 easily when dissolved in water as it entersthe stomach but few know that cancerous tissue turns bicarbonateinto carbon dioxide. A few years ago a United Kingdom Cancer Researchteam found MRI scans were able to track changes in bicarbonate andtherefore identify cancers even in the very early stages.
All cancer has a lowerpH, meaning it is more acidic than surrounding tissue. Workingwith mice, the researchers boosted the MRI sensitivity more than20,000 times. Using MRI, they looked to see how much of thetagged bicarbonate was converted into carbon dioxide within thetumor. In more acidic tumors, more bicarbonate is converted intocarbon dioxide.
Lead researcherProfessor Kevin Brindle, from Cancer Research UK’s CambridgeResearch Institute at the University of Cambridge, said: “Thistechnique could be used as a highly-sensitive early warning systemfor the signs of cancer. By exploiting the body’s natural pHbalancing system, we have found a potentially safe way of measuringpH to see what’s going on inside patients. MRI can pick up on theabnormal pH levels found in cancer and it is possible that this couldbe used to pinpoint where the disease is present and when it isresponding to treatment.”

Sodium bicarbonate isfound in various places around the world in the form of mineraldeposits. The uses of this natural cleaner are endless.
