Two Awesome Christchurch Cafes

The Herb Centre; This wistful place consists of a delightful corner cafe that serves mostly vegetarian treats (there's just one carnivorous option on the menus...) as well as brews the New Zealand Coffee Awards 2009-10 Gold Award winning, New Brighton-based Switch Espresso.

It is also an amazingly stocked dispensary/ health store that offers a large selection of dietary supplements, organic body goods and every essential oil imaginable, a patio garden together with a medical center that delivers midwifery services, alternative addiction treatment solution, and herbal and naturopathic medication. Phew. It's fundamentally the only one-stop-shop for the granola sect in the entire city (that we know, anyway...in case your company is one, as well, please email us!). It is an alternative style cafe Christchurch should be proud of!

The place, located on Kilmore St, is fittingly relaxing, having hard wood floors, substantial, exposed windows that bathe the area in delicate light, as well as the calming perfumes of lavender and patchouli. It is really fantastically unique (look the sweet as images of grooving eggs around the chalkboard wall menu!) and the meals are fresh and superb, try the GF, dairy free Winter Root Vegetable Cake, it absolutely was a hit around my partially vegetarian household. Come summer months, I reckon the garden will be loaded with revellers in search of a serene area to loosen up having a cup along with a socially sensitive slice.

Addington Coffee Co-op; Nestled on Lincoln Rd, essential to Addington village, Addington Coffee Co-op is a quaintly luxurious, natural light filled cafe and roastery that spins Blondie, roasts and peddles their very own brand of Fair Trade (and DELICIOUS) coffee and feels like your living room (if you're the person whose living room includes a pitch-perfect amount of refined kitsch and also the most affecting ambience in the street).

The company, located within a sizeable previous mechanics work shop, required nine months to perfect as well as earthquake proof (that was successful!) and it is jam-packed to the top during all times of the day with an modern mix of vibrant neo-hipsters, chatty stay-at-home-mums and expensive looking suits looking for an inviting position for a lunch time conference plus a superior, recently produced slice, pastry or sandwich. Together with their super cool and informed use of Fair Trade coffee, they also offer "organic threads" manufactured by survivors of the sex-trade in Calcutta

So, to recap: their coffee is great, the decoration is impeccable as well as their business practices are morally righteous. Need I say more?
